Simba ran through the fields that just recently his Dad and him had a deep discussion, of when to be brave and of the Great Kings. He slowed down a bit and nearly tripped in a hole as he had that night. He looked down and saw the fading paw print of his father. He closed his eyes and choked back his tears.
"I'm sorry dad...I failed you. I wasn't brave when I should have been..."
He closed his eyes and started off on a run again, away from the Pridelands, away from his life,and away from his Father's memory.
I wanted to re-draw this picture:
Mostly because this is how I am feeling this Father's Day.
For years I was bitter and had a resentment towards this holiday because my own Father wasn't in my life. I saw everyone else with happy dads and I was hurt that I was alone. It wasn't until years later that I opened my eyes and saw the light that I had someone just as good, if not better. My Grandpa. For those years, he was the best. He really took on the role of Dad in my life. This last year I lost that forever and now I can't help but look at this holiday with disdain once again.
I've tried to stay positive, but it is difficult. So I hope you all enjoy this picture regardless.
